LEADERACY / FACILITATOR COMPANION
One real moment.
One wiser move.
Know who you are. Act in real moments. Reflect with questions first. Integrate what you learn.
This companion is a working adaptation of Jose’s Case Lab session structure. Additional prompts below are draft facilitation support for review with Jose.
Before you meet
Bring one specific leadership interaction, not an entire organizational problem. Complete your Case Lab, remove identifying details about others, and decide what you are willing to share. Agree as a group on confidentiality and its limits before discussing cases.
The 80-minute conversation
- 15 minutes · Present the case
Describe the context and reconstruct the conversation. Separate what was said from what you felt or assumed.
- 20 minutes · Ask clarifying questions
Questions only; hold advice. What happened just before that moment? What did each person actually say?
- 20 minutes · Explore the pattern
Notice assumptions, recurring responses, personal and team costs, and what the leader was protecting.
- 15 minutes · Offer peer feedback
Ask permission to offer a perspective. Use observations and possibilities rather than judgments about someone’s character.
- 10 minutes · Choose one wiser move
Name one action to try in the next 30 days, set a date, and decide how you will know what happened.
Integration note
My next action: ________________________________________
I will try it by: ______________ Who will support me: ______________
At our next conversation: What did I try? What happened? What will I adjust?
